Alaskan soprano Sydnee Cole started the 2019/20 season with a return to Miami City Ballet as a soprano soloist in their production of A Midsummer Night's Dream (Mendelssohn) and as a featured soloist at the Miami International Piano Festival. International accolades earned in the 2018-19 season included 2nd place and special jury selection in the Vissi d’Arte International Competition (Czech Republic/Russia), semi-finalist in the Concours International de Belcanto Bellini (France), and recognition as an Individual Artist Project Award grantee through the Rasmuson Foundation (Alaska, US). Recent European credits include Anna (Nabucco), and Ophélie (cover-Hamlet) with Divadlo J. K. Tyla v Plzni.

 

In 2017, Sydnee joined Opernfest Prague as a voice fellow performing with the Orchestr Severčeského divadla. That season, she also made debuts with Orchestra Miami in the title role of Little Red Riding Hood (Barab) and as the soprano soloist in Stabat Mater (Rossini) at Barry University. Other recent credits include performances with chamber group Virtuosi di Praga, Magic City Opera, Opera FLOW, Florida Grand Opera’s Opera at Sea, and guest performing for Renata Scotto in events hosted by the Venetian Arts Society.
 

A 2015 apprentice artist with Miami Summer Music Festival, she sang the role of La Fée in Cendrillon (Massenet) with Maestro Grzegorz Nowak, and made her New World Center debut with the festival as a soloist alongside the MSMF Symphony Orchestra. Her 2013 performance in NY Opera Exchange’s production of Don Giovanni was praised for bringing “a new warmth and charm to Zerlina with her pretty, multi-layered voice. Sydnee is a founding member of Miami's Distilled Opera at the Villain Theater and has appeared with Distilled Opera, the Villain Theater, the Doral Concert Series, Temple Beth Am Opera Concert Series, St. Patrick’s of Miami Beach and has toured recitals to both Anchorage, Alaska and Miami as part of the Emerging Artist series with What If Works Productions.

In addition to her operatic work, Sydnee is a skilled vocalist in various genres having professionally performed as a background vocalist, soloist and soprano in sacred ensemble settings, and musical theater, folk, country and pop works.

 

In 2009, Sydnee represented her home state as Miss Alaska in the 2010 Miss America Competition, capturing the overall talent award at the State Level. That same year, she was also recognized as the 2009 Young Alaskan Artist of the Year through the Anchorage Festival of Music.

 

Sydnee earned her master’s degree from Manhattan School of Music, where she was featured in the role of Gabriel in Haydn’s Die Schöpfung with the Manhattan School of Music Sinfonia & Symphonic Chorus under the baton of Kent Tritle. She made her professional debut with Opera Fairbanks, singing Giannetta and covering the lead role of Adina in L’elisir d’amore. Sydnee also holds a bachelor of music with a minor in French language and literature from Boston University.
